THE APPOINTED DAY PART 13
Like a thief in the night.
2 Peter 3: 8-10
8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this: that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord does not delay his promise, according to some think it is late, but he is patient with us, not wanting any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements burning will be destroyed, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. (2 Peter 3: 8-10 KJV)
From here a hypothesis of 6,000 years follows. 4,000 years from creation to the birth of Jesus and from the birth of Jesus to the present 2,000 years. According to this hypothesis we are about to end at any moment since the remaining 1,000 years are the millennium of Revelation 20.
Exodus 20:11
11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore Jehovah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy. (Exodus 20:11 KJV)
Furthermore, in the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus details that the injured victim left at the inn was only paid the bill for two days and that the Good Samaritan planned to return on the third day.
Luke 10: 30-35
30 Jesus answered and said: A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell into the hands of robbers, who plundered him; and wounding him, they left, leaving him half dead. 31 And it came to pass that a priest came down that road, and seeing him, he passed on by. 32 Likewise a Levite, coming near the place, and seeing him, passed on by. 33 But a Samaritan, who was on his way, came near him, and seeing him, he was moved with mercy; 34 and approaching, he bound up his wounds, pouring oil and wine on them; and putting him on his mount, took him to the inn, and cared for him. 35 Another day when he left, he took out two denarii, and gave them to the innkeeper, and said, Take care of him; And whatever you spend too much, I'll pay you back when I get back. (Luke 10: 30-35 NIV)
A denarius is a day's wages. So two denarii is two days' wages. And since one day is like a thousand years, two days is like two thousand years. Just the fulfilled Time of the First Coming of Jesus where He paid our debt until His Return. He who has ears to hear hear.
The prophet Hosea confirms the two days for His Return.
Hosea 6: 1-2
1 Come and let us return to Jehovah; because he snatched, and will heal us; wounded, and will bandage us. 2 It will give us life after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, and we will live before him. (Hosea 6: 1-2 KJV)
God caught up, and will give us life by resurrecting us after two days, that is, on the third day.
It should also be taken into account that the Lord does not delay his promise but wants everyone to come to repentance. Jesus himself spoke of the delay that would occur in Matthew 25. Why each day of delay is equal to 100,000 new Christians according to Bible Societies.
Matthew 25: 1-13
1 Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who, taking their lamps, went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Five of them were wise and five were foolish. 3 The foolish, taking their lamps, did not take oil with them; 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels, together with their lamps. 5 And the bridegroom lingered, they all nodded and fell asleep. 6 And at midnight a cry was heard: Here comes the bridegroom; come out to meet him! 7 Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, Give us some of your oil; because our lamps go out. 9 But the prudent answered, saying, So that we do not lack it, go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourself. 10 But while they were going to shop, the husband came; and those who were ready went with him to the wedding; and the door was closed. 11 Afterward the other virgins also came, saying, "Lord, Lord, open to us!" 12 But he, answering, said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you. 13 Watch therefore, because you do not know the day or the hour when the Son of Man is coming. (Matthew 25: 1-13 NIV)
Ten virgins, five of them with oil in their lamps and in their vessels. But the other five with oil only in their lamps. The oil in the lamps produces the light that men see and the oil in the vessel is the light that God sees. Remember that it is not by works so that no one can boast.
When the Lord lingered, they all fell asleep, but the cry or the warning moments before he came woke them all up. When they are awake, they discuss the oil and when five o'clock are going to buy the oil, the husband arrived. We could conclude that moments before his coming we will know. A cry will be heard, or a warning or a trumpet.
